Newton County
is located in the state of North Carolina and as of the 2000 census, the population was 91,025 residents. The county is divided into thirteen townships: Anderson Creek, Averasboro, Barbecue, Black River, Buckhorn, Duke, Grove, Hectors Creek, Johnsonville, Lillington, Neills Creek, Stewarts Creek, and Upper Little River. The county seat is Lillington.

Harnett County is served by two modern, well-equipped hospitals: Betsy Johnson Memorial Hospital located in Dunn and Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.
