Harnett County Airport was opened on October 7, 1981. Approximately 51,000 operations take place every year. The Harnett County Airport has a terminal building, a runway with full parallel taxiway, two three bay shed hangars, two 80x80 Corporate hangars, one six bay hangar, one 14 unit hangar, a automated Weather Operations Station, and Avgas and Jet fuel facilities. Runway length is 4,300 feet with partial parallel taxiway of 3,700 feet. The Fear River lies about 200 yards off the end of runway 05. There is a large air-conditioned FBO building with a friendly, helpful staff, clean bathrooms and a pleasant lounge for visitors and guests.

The Harnett County Airport operates an average of 84 Aircraft operations per day. 46% of these operations are transient general aviation, 46% local general aviation, 2% air taxi, and 7% military. There are 60 Aircraft based on the field, 46 Single engine airplanes, 4 Multi engine airplanes, and 10 glider airplanes.
